about me.
I taught elementary school students for 13 years. Over that time, I witnessed how systems- the outside factors that impact our lives- had a profound affect on the way we can “show up” every day. In 2021, I realized I wanted to affect systemic change in my community in a different way. Psychology seemed like the right fit, and I went back to school.
I chose to study Marriage and Family Therapy because it is systemic. It tells clients that they aren’t the problem, and they don’t need to be fixed. Rather, the problem is framed in the context of everything in their life (systems). This is monumental for couples and families wanting to fix relationships. It is equally powerful for individuals wanting to do their own work.
Every evening, I create breathing room so I can show up as my best self the next day. My favorite way to reset is time spent with my family and our two adopted Goldendoodles. I enjoy audiobooks, creative projects and watching comedies with my family. Meditation, therapy and good conversation with friends keep me grounded. The ocean, mountains and my backyard are my favorite places.
